“ONCE WE GIVE UP BEING ATTACHED TO PHYSICAL POSSESSIONS WE FIND THE TIME AND FREEDOM TO FOLLOW BIGGER DREAMS” – JOSHUA BECKER
Since my childhood I had heard about Kullu-Manali, a place in Himachal Pradesh. Since then I wanted to go there because of brisk weather and steep mountains. Now was the time to explore the magnetic mountains. We booked a mini-van from Delhi to Manali. It was a peaceful night with wonderful experience. The only thing I could see in the headlights was the narrow roads with pits and pot holes and blind curves. Also, there was no street lights in most of the forest area but the good thing was the air rushing in from an open window that was fresh, clean and freezing. We reached Manali safe and sound in the evening. After that, we checked into a hotel for 2N/3D with one time meal. No regrets for booking the hotel because of the ambience they provided.
The best thing to do in the Manali during evening time was visiting Mall road. It was a crowded road. The crowd had a life of their own. The vibrant clothes shining in the moonlight and the people move like enchanting shoals of fish. There was chatting between sellers and buyers , catching up with old friends and got a chance to meet new people who now are considered as friends. It’s busy for sure, but the hustle and bustle brought life to that road. We found many steps down the road with beautiful scenery formation of mountains behind them and capturing photo with 360 degree rotation using MOVENSE was like a cherry on the cake.
Rohtang Pass has got the distinction of being one of the highest mountain passes in the world. It connects the kullu valley with the lahaul and spiti valleys of Himachal Pradesh. The impressing feature of rohtang pass was the flirty manner in which the weather plays with you. Radical change in the weather from warm sunshine to snowfall within the minutes is admirable. Trekking and skiing are the two most popular adventure sports available there. It attracts around 2L tourists every year. Eating hot maggie noddles in the freezing cold weather will give you immense pleasure.
The start of international skiing competition, like the Alpine premier league, has made the valley very popular amongst foreign tourists. It is located 14 kms away from Manali in Himachal Pradesh. There are numbers of hotels and also the choice to pitch your own tent for the tracking lovers was there. Paragliding was the another reason for the popularity of Solang Valley amongst the people. Flying is liberation. It helps us to tear away the bonds which restrain us to the ground, letting us forget all our worries and pains for a few exhilarating minutes or even seconds. Another activity available there was rope climbing by cable car. By the time of climbing, I experienced the saying “Mountains are the beginning and the end of all natural scenery”.
